Beaching in Portugal - Part 1

Aloha from Portugal! We arrived late morning into Portimao with people lining the banks of the river to watch the largest cruise ship ever to arrive at their town. Doug stood shirtless on one of our balconies to wave to the camera crews.

Our big excursion was walking the length of the beach, Praia da Rocha, named for the crumbling limestone cliffs which line the two miles of beach. We were enthralled by all of the caves and grottos along the way, not to mention the pastel colored limestone. The first half mile of beach was crassly commercial, then we climbed through a cave to the long stretch of local beach.
