Sea Caves

The fun group of Maui Pink Cap swimmers changed things up this morning with a swim at Dumps.

Conditions were great, we got to explore some sea caves, and were visited by lots of green sea turtles.

Cannot Complain

I cannot, and will not, complain about being stuck on Maui during these unusual times.

We often decompress by watching the sky light up during sunset, plus we have the bonus of being entertained by the antics of whales as they pass by.

Maui no ka oi

Easy to See

Maui's Pink Cap swimmers had nice clear water for the first time in quite a while. What a treat! And because it was easy to see, we spotted lots and lots of turtles.

Under and Above the Sea

Despite less than optimal visibility, Maui's Pink Cap swimmers headed out to sea this morning. During one of our breaks we got to watch a Humpback Whale repeatedly jumping out of the water and splashing down not too far away. Underwater we didn't see much, but did have one encounter with a Crown Jelly.

Lots of Egrets

We've been having some nice sunsets recently.

Due to too many people not wearing masks on the narrow portion of my favorite ocean walk, I have switched up the route on my evening stroll. One big bonus is that I've discovered the nighttime roosting spot for all the neighborhood's egrets.

Swimming Apart

Maui's Pink Cap swimmers are getting really good at holding our breaths and swimming toward each other for a photo, then swimming apart before surfacing and breathing once again. Safety first.

These two eels repeatedly touched noses together before heading out their separate ways.

Memory Lane

If you want to take a trip down memory lane to remember parking at Big Beach back in the day, try to park at the first (dirt road) entrance to Makena State Park (top photo).

The Egrets come home to roost every evening in Wailea.

Extraordinary 2021 Already

Wow! Maui's Pink Cap swimmers started the new year off right. We encountered several Crown Jellyfish, then had about thirty Spinner Dolphins swim right up to us. What an extraordinary swim!

Happy New Year

We began the new year with a stroll down to and through the nearby state park.

Even though there hasn't been any rain recently, the daisies are blooming everywhere.

The recent eruption on the next island over has brought us some fine sunsets.
