Song and Dance

It is a little after midnight and we are pulling away from the dock in Sevastopol. Doug and I spent most of today recovering from our killer hike yesterday. We did wander the streets a bit and are sad to be leaving Sevastopol so soon. We like this town.

It was also interesting to be docked within a few yards of two Russian naval destroyers. Just watching the daily routines of all those very young sailors was educational.

Our ship which usually has minimal entertainment, hosted the Black Sea Navy Ensemble in the lobby tonight. They performed mostly Russian folk songs and dances, but they did a truly wonderful medley of Beatles songs as well. The guy on the balalaika reminded me a lot of Jake Shimabukuro for his enthusiasm and innovation.
