A certified arborist I know derisively refers to all Maui landscapers as belonging to the school of Lollipop landscape design, as is evinced by the shape of practically every tree on Maui. The innately scrubby kiawe tree below has to be one of their crowning achievements (makes me think of my recent haircut - just call me lollipop).

When I come to Hawaii I'll be sure to look for the lollipops. They do look like them too.
