Skatin'

The big activity around here is musical chairs

I've been visiting my 70's parents this week and they spend a lot of
time sitting. Every now and then they get motivated, they get up, and
they move to a different set of chairs.

If they are feeling really ambitious, they get up, then sit in the car
and drive around looking at the sights, then return to their chairs at
home.

I don't know how she did it, but my sister talked them into going to
the roller rink today. It was Great! I havent roller skated in ages.
We started out pretty wobbly at first but were soon gliding around
like we knew what we were doing. Well, they did. I looked like the
spastic fool I am, but boy did I have fun.

We returned to our chairs at home with big smiles on our faces.

  1. In reality my parents are quite active, walking four miles every morning. My mom plays tennis three days a week and is a prolific and talented artist. Dad rides his motorcycle, he also builds and flies jet aircraft (well, scale models). While the story is basically true, I left out the fact that we walked to and from the roller rink.
