Bear With Me

Surfers are enjoying a small wrap-around swell here on Maui's south shores. The waves are insignificant compared to what I hear is hitting the north shores, but that doesn't mean that they aren't fun.

All the photos today are experiments with my newest camera. Please bear with me while I figure out how to make it work.

Made Our Day

Conditions for this morning's ocean swim with the Maui Pink Cap crew started out as less than optimal. Waves were stirring things up and visibility wasn't too hot; but once we got out deeper the water cleared up nicely.

An unexpected breach by a nearby Humpback Whale caught us all by surprise and Made Our Day (sadly, my reaction time was such that no photographic proof exists).

Fishies and Missed Whales

 Lots of fishies were out and about this morning.

And people on shore told us that we had whales near us too, but we never saw or heard any signs of them.

Maybe This Time

From time to time I vow to work on getting over my fear of people. Those vows always crumble immediately to dust.

I have no problem clandestinely taking photos from a distance, as seen in today's blog post. And photographing friends and people on my turf (out in the ocean) is no problem for me. But approaching strangers and asking to take their picture is something I simply cannot do.

Nonetheless, I am going to try, try again. Maybe this time...

Jaws Going Off

 Jaws was going off today.

I haven't been since last winter and I'm glad I made the trip.

It really helps to have the right camera, and this little baby which runs $200 at Costco is a gem.

Merged Fun

 The Maui Pink Cap swimmers were joined by the Mission Viejo Nadadores for our first ocean swim of 2016 this morning.

I love the energy and renewed sense of fun which visitors bring to our group. What a great swim I had with this merged company.
