Even though I was swimming close to shore this morning, a small group of six Spinner Dolphins came up to play with me and several snorkelers. I love surprises and this was a good one.

And then a Manta Ray showed up as well. What a day.

Do Not Enter

It's funny, but by not getting rid of them back when they were considered eyesores, old World War II bunkers are now certain to be protected as Historical Monuments. Soon I'm sure they will be scrubbed clean of graffiti and will be fenced off to protect them.

Not all that different from the way some of our puddles which form after rainstorms have been fenced off as wetland habitats.

Clean Beaches

I don't know why I continue to be so fascinated by our wild Lovebird population, but I am.

Big waves on Saturday washed much of the sand from South Maui beaches, which means that it will be gradually returning all nice and clean in the near future. Ain't nature great?

Storm Damage

Friday's storm flattened the south end of Little Beach.

Any trees not knocked flat, were stripped of branches and left teetering.

Meanwhile, we hardly took notice of the storm even though we live less than three miles away.

Crashing Bore

Today I am subjecting you to boring wave photos simply because big crashing waves are unusual here in South Maui, and I like to take pictures of things that are out of synch with my normal humdrum life.

I hope that the ocean gets back to normal quickly, because I want to get back out swimming.

Chillin' with Dolphins

After my walk this morning I jumped into the ocean to cool off and was almost immediately surrounded by Spinner Dolphins and snorkelers.

The dolphins were definitely in sleep mode so I kept my distance and let them come to me, which they did several times.

Click HERE for many more photos from today's dip.

One Lane Sunrise

I often head south along my street in the morning, but today I managed to get out a little earlier than usual and caught a lovely sunrise.

A few rays shone through the morning clouds and highlighted a little piece of Upcountry.

I'm still kind of liking these weeds.
