Final Swim of the Pandemic
A few, mostly related pairs, of Maui's Pink Cap swimmers thoroughly enjoyed an ocean swim replete with Green Sea Turtles and laughter. We explored a sea cave, a new swim-thru arch and lots of unfamiliar terrain.
New county of Maui rules make yesterday's swim the last group swim for a while. We all kept our distance from non-family members but, even so, will be playing it even safer from here on out.

Worse Ways
I can think of worse ways to be in quarantine. The beaches were mostly empty this morning and almost everyone kept a cheerful distance from others as they got out and exercised.

Nearly Empty
What a difference a couple of days makes.
Saturday there were lots and lots of people out and about. Even though the lockdown stay at home order for Hawaii doesn't begin until midnight tonight, the streets and beaches were nearly empty yesterday. In fact Polo Beach (bottom photo) was so quiet that people felt comfortable putting up fishing poles all along the beach.

Safe Distance Swim
Desperate for exercise, Maui's Pink Cap swimmers showed up in ones and twos for an ocean swim yesterday morning. Keeping safely apart, the swimmers headed out in small groups for an invigorating swim.

Nicer Complex
With the skies reflecting the turmoil surrounding us, there continue to be dramatic sunsets.
And while not over the top, this sand castle complex is one of the nicer ones I've seen on the beach.

Keeping a Safe Distance
While Maui's Pink Cap swimmers were doing their best to adjust to a paradigm shift, they didn't let that affect their ability to enjoy life this morning.

Chow Time
I saw lots of turtles once again on my evening ocean swim yesterday.
It is obvious that one reason they have sturdy shells is to protect themselves from the waves pounding them on the rocks while they feed on algae.

Basking
Just like me, Green Sea Turtles enjoy basking in the warm Maui sunshine. Well, even more than me, much much more.
Plus, I'm glad we're making the time to enjoy the sunset almost every evening.

Not Us
Maui's Pink Cap swimmers celebrated not having to turn our clocks back by swimming with lots and lots of turtles yesterday.
Conditions were exquisite and turtles kept swimming right up to us, even the usually shy Hawksbill.

Astounded
Too often I take my surroundings for granted.
Then I remember to take a step back and look around me - and am astounded.

Linda's Birthday and Bye Bye Bonnie
This morning the Maui Pink Cap swimmers celebrated Linda's birthday and said Goodbye to Bonnie for another year. We even ran into a few mermaids along the way.
