Brave Turtles

Sunday may have been the final swim of the year for Maui's Pink Cap swimmers, but I managed to squeeze in one more yesterday evening.

The water is definitely getting chillier, but there were still a few snorkelers out and several turtles braved the cooler water as well.

Christmas Miracle

I began my Christmas morning with a swim in the clear, glassy, warm ocean and was greeted by at least fifty spinner dolphins. I've really missed them and, apparently, they've missed me.

Castle with a View

What better way to watch sunset than by dipping your toes in the warm ocean water?

Also, the best sand castle I've ever seen on a South Maui beach.

First Winter Swim

Maui's Pink Cap swimmers enjoyed clear, flat water for our first swim of winter yesterday. Gray skies seemed to scare some people away, but conditions were great.

Minnow School

We had a mysteriously minnow-school (minuscule) turnout for our Sunday ocean swim yesterday, which mathematically meant more fun per person. Or something like that.

Water Water

My life revolves around water. The clear, warm Pacific is why I moved to Maui plus, of course, the year-round warmth and abundant sunshine.

People Too

I haven't managed to get many swims in recently, but when I do I have been seeing lots of friendly Green Sea Turtles. And on rare occasions, people too.

More Manta

Maui's Pink Cap swimmers got to hang out with a different, and very playful, manta ray yesterday. Every time we would begin to resume our swim, it would come right up to us asking to play some more.

Plus, of course, there were all the usual fishies and turtles along the way.

Thankful

I have so very much to be grateful for, including lots of great desserts at dinner last night.

Dove Release

Our neighbors held a wonderful retirement party for Doug this weekend.

Great people, great food, nice sunset, and even a Dove release.

Manta Rays and Pink Caps

Yesterday's ocean swim with the Maui Pink Cap swimmers was especially sweet because we got to swim with two friendly Manta Rays. Plus numerous turtles, both Green Sea Turtles and one rare Hawksbill, as well as many fishies of all kinds. What a fun morning.

Get Away

My evening walks continue to be awe inspiring.

When I'm still stressing after a hard day at the office, once the sky begins glowing with spectacular colors, I am finally able to get completely away from my woes.

Lovely Friday

 Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to swim this weekend, but I did have a lovely time with lots of Green Sea Turtles after work on Friday.

Do It Yourself

 The resorts have been offering oceanfront private dining recently; but this couple decided to do it themselves, and quite nicely too.

With the earlier autumn sunsets, the ends of my walks are in darkness.

Poor Vis

Extremely poor visibility kept our ocean swim very brief yesterday. Not only was the water cloudy, but there was lots of scary debris floating all around us. Although it did bring an early reindeer sighting.

Moon Over Makena

I was so happy to get in a normal after work swim yesterday evening - with no jellyfish.

Lots of turtles were out and the moon was rising over my workplace.
