Party Time on the Mountain

 In a rare move the Maui Pink Cap Swimmers canceled a Sunday swim in favor of a high-altitude party. Christine reached a milestone and Maggie is (once again) moving off-island. The mountaintop elevation is the only reason I can come up with for all the silliness which ensued.

Rainbow Painting

Rainbow is visiting Maui for a couple of days to paint a mural for a local business; and she still made time to swim in the ocean.

I didn't see any dolphins this morning, but did see lots and lots of turtles.

Transformation

 What could be more beautiful than a south Maui morning? Conditions were exquisite for my walk along the shore today, and lots of other people seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.

The squid from earlier this week has transformed into some kind of Gorgon.

Big Guy

I got to swim with Maui's Mermaids and some of their hangers on this morning.

We saw lots of fish, including this BIG guy (bottom photo) in shallow water chasing small fish.

Giant Squid

 I was surprised to see this giant squid still in the same place two days later. At least it hadn't begun to smell.

Climbing coconut palms with spikes is becoming a thing of the past. Apparently the holes created by the spikes can cause the trees to be more susceptible to disease.

Swimmers with Jetpacks

 The Maui Pink Cap Swimmers followed up their Earth Day March for Science with an ocean swim this morning.

The most interesting things we saw were three people with x2 Sport jetpacks zooming through the water. Sooo Cooooool!

The critters we saw were pretty cool, too.

I saw lots of fishies on my ocean swim this morning.

What's It All About?

 This morning's ocean swim was all about dolphins.

Well, not just dolphins. It was also about a birthday, and a shark, and lobsters, and so much more.

Swim Day of Obligation

 This morning the Maui Pink Cap Swimmers celebrated Easter with an ocean swim. Lots of people appeared who we only seem to see on these special holidays.

Roaming Horses

I got to swim across La Perouse bay with a select few very special people this morning. And on the way back we even saw horsies roaming the shore.

Blowing Leaves

Omilu and More

 Lucky me. I got to swim with the Maui Mermaids again this morning.

We saw a nice school of Omilu and lots and lots of Collector Urchins.

Doug's Birthday Swim

This morning the Maui Pink Cap Swimmers celebrated Doug's (dyslexic) 27th Birthday with an ocean swim.

We got to check out a Jellyfish which was practically glowing and lots and lots of turtles.

We even met some nice people along the way.

Tires and Weights

 I love living on Maui. This place is perfect in so many ways.

It was fun watching the Cross-Fit people enthusiastically carrying tires and hoisting weights at the beach park this morning.

And family photo shoots were happening all over the place.

Jumping Off Point

 The paparazzi were out madly clicking away with their super duper telephoto lenses this morning. This one actually appeared a little upset when I took his photo.

I, of course, do not sell my photos of people. I hope that my images can instead create a jumping off point for your imagination.

Rocky Spires

 The ladies and I swam a different route this morning, which included passages through rocky spires.

Barely Discerned

Getting to swim with Maui's Mermaids and their hangers-on was once again the highlight of my week so far.

And barely discerned through cloudy water, we encountered a Manta Ray as we neared shore at the end of our swim.
