More Dead
Surf was up and surfers were out again this morning.
But I also noticed that at least two new surfer memorial crosses had been added at the La Perouse surf spot.

Good Combination
The combination of high surf and a state holiday, Prince Kuhio Day, brought surfers out in droves again today.
For once, overcrowding on the waves was not a problem as there was no break between sets. It was wave after wave after wave all morning.

Less Clear Birthday
The Maui Pink Cap Swimmers got to celebrate Janet's birthday with a swim in less than clear water this morning.
Happy Birthday, Janet.

Obstacle Course
Surf is up here in South Maui and surfers are out in droves.
One of the more interesting surf spots is the entrance to the Kihei boat ramp where surfers not only dodge each other, but also harbor markers and boat traffic.

Daisy Daisy
Wildflowers are blooming everywhere after a few recent rain storms. This is not the norm, and I am thoroughly enjoying the color.
Some people appear no matter where I happen to be. Lucky me.

I live in an amazing place.
Every day is the perfect summer day and I have many, many miles of beach for walking.

Challenging and Fun
Maui's Mermaids brought me on a beautiful ocean swim this morning.
The wind picked up on the return, making the swim challenging and even more fun.

Rare and Perfect
Today was what back in the Midwest I would have considered to be a rare, perfect summer day. Of course, on Maui nearly every day is like this.

Early for a Change
The ocean was glassy and perfect for the Maui Pink Cap Swimmers this morning. And everyone was a little early with the non-change to daylight savings time.
We saw fun critters and zoomed along in the flat water.

Use a Ladder
I noticed a photoshoot happening on the beach this morning. The only camera was the one in a drone which hovered just barely overhead. Personally, I would have simply used a ladder to have gotten the same effect.

Mysterious Underwater Movement
This was the biggest living Cowrie that I have ever seen. After examination it was carefully placed back where it was found.
We were also greeted by a big Manta Ray and, as we approached shore, by a huge school of small fish being chased by a much larger predator fish. Due to poor visibility, and how fast the fish were moving, we weren't even sure what we were seeing at first. Thank goodness the camera was able to clarify matters a bit.
We were happy campers and really glad we went for an ocean swim today.

Mermaids and Manta Ray
This morning I got to swim with the incomparable Maui Mermaids - and with a playful Manta Ray as well.
We celebrated two birthdays, savored a poetry recital, and basked in a wonderful Mele.

Not Huge
Surf was still up on South Maui shores this morning and surfers were out in force.
Waves were definitely not huge, but everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Baby Dolphin Swim
Nasty conditions at the usual spot led some of the Maui Pink Cap Swimmers (after considerable, lengthy deliberation) to move down the shore to an alternate location.
As we began our swim, we were met by 14 Spinner Dolphins including a very young baby. They also swam up to us on our return.
Click HERE for lots more photos of swimmers and dolphins.

Need for Speed
Now that the storm has passed, we are seeing some spectacular cloud formations over the mountains.
The need for speed. Hydrofoils are used for both big wave surfing and kite surfing, and this belonged to a kite surfer taking advantage of strong southerly winds this morning.
