Moo Noo Koo

 It is good to see Humuhumunukunukuapua'a open once again.

This high-end seafood(ish) restaurant is named after the state fish, and one of the fun words we all learn to pronounce after moving here. Hoo moo hoo moo noo koo noo koo ah poo ah ah.

Blending In

Three small inquisitive sea turtles swam up to check us out this morning.

This octopus soon changed to solid brown, jetted off, and blended in with different coral in different colors.

Lots of fishies did not mind our presence at all today.

Half Million Dollars

 Because Maui is so very far from pretty much anywhere, we get very few private yachts. So it was a special treat this morning to see the Invictus just off shore.

A quick search online found that it is available for rent for a mere half-million dollars per week. It sleeps 12, so that works out to a mere $6000 per person per night.

In One Piece

The paddlers of this outrigger canoe did not time their beach landing exactly right. At least they did manage to get it to shore in one piece.

Santa Can Swim

 Santa paid a visit to the Maui Pink Cap swimmers on Christmas day after he finished his evening rounds. He even joined us for our ocean swim.

Another Swim with Mermaids

 Maui's Mermaids allowed me and a couple others to join them for an ocean swim this morning. Forget the dolphins, I would rather swim with mermaids any day.

Great Getting

I always feel great getting back into the ocean, but especially when the water is as clear as it was today.

Blow Hard

The wind which made for such an exciting swim yesterday, also managed to topple a few trees in my neighborhood.

True Adventure

 The Maui Pink Cap Swimmers were seriously considering not swimming this morning due to howling winds.

However, this group cannot be kept down and we headed out from two opposite locations to meet in the middle. The tough conditions made it a true adventure swim, and who doesn't love a good adventure?

Some of that Spirit

How did it sneak up so suddenly?

Well, the holidays are upon us, and now that our tree is up, I'm even  feeling some of that spirit.

Only Friendly Critters

Several Green Sea Turtles were happily munching away at algae growing on the rocks this morning. They don't seem to mind getting tossed about by waves in the shallow water; I guess when you've got a shell like theirs, banging onto rocks is no big deal.

This part of the coast was closed yesterday due to a shark sighting, but all I saw were friendly critters today.

My Wimpy Arms

 I have a hard enough time lifting my coffee mug in the morning (it is a big mug) that I can't even imagine what my wimpy arms might do if I were to attempt a handstand.

I see all kinds of attire on our beaches.

Poetry Slamming Mermaids

 I was lucky enough to get to swim with Mermaids at La Perouse this morning. And even more fortunate to experience a small poetry slam at the Aquarium.  What a great life I have.

Hardly Anyone

The beach is usually crowded during my morning walks, but not today for some reason. I really could not figure out why I had the place pretty much to myself.

Open Fins

I have been avoiding swimming since I've been back on Maui, mostly because of the cooler winter water. Well, really because I'm an unmotivated wimp.

Even so, my fishie friends welcomed me back this morning with open fins.

Easy Going

The fact that flower petals are strewn before me as I walk provides an accurate description of my life. How could my life possibly be any better?

Gray Day

 The ocean is becoming a little chillier and the unusual lack of sun this morning did not make getting going any easier, but conditions were great for a fun swim.

Fun Design

I got to photograph another home today decorated by a really fun designer. I love my job.

60 is It

 The Maui Pink Cap Swimmers celebrated Shaun & Kevin's 60th birthdays today with an ocean swim. I am amazed at how many members of our group are the exact same age.

Mahalo

 The Mermaids dragged me kicking and screaming out into the ocean yesterday, and boy am I glad they did.

The water was clear and fish and adventures were abundant. I am truly thankful for such good friends who care about me.

 I got to help Jonathan celebrate his 41st birthday this morning with a beautiful ocean swim.

It is so very good to be back on Maui.
