Red Eggs & Tang
I saw lots of these egg bundles floating in the ocean this morning. I wonder what kind of creature produced them?
As I mentioned before, I've been seeing huge numbers of Yellow Tangs on the reefs. Something is certainly going right for them.

Florescences in B&W
Sheaths are cracking open and male florescences are bursting out of flower pods on Pygmy Date Palms all over South Maui. And Honeybees are going crazy, unable to decide where to begin, buzzing from flower to flower to flower.

Happy Birthday Christine
Even after a vicious attach by a rogue lobster, Christine managed to make it back to shore for her annual birthday party.
Lots of friends showed up to help buoy her up, including this friendly turtle.

Kind of Like
A scattering of high clouds made this a perfect morning for a pleasant stroll along the beach.
The shore is lined with gazillion dollar mansions and fancy-schmancy resorts, but a single fisherman can turn the scene into one belonging in the third world. And I kind of like that.

Turtle-licious Swim
None of us can remember the last time we saw so many Green Sea Turtles on one swim. Often we will keep count, but the immensity of the number was more than my little brain could handle.
Not only were there a lot of turtles, but today we spotted (bottom photo) the smallest, cleanest shelled turtle we've ever seen.

Abs Workout
All the high-end resorts now want "spikeless" palm tree trimming, which means an amazing abs workout for the workers.
Kihei Caffe is a South Maui institution for breakfast and lunch and exists in one of the few remaining quanset huts on Maui.

Amazing People
High tide brought the Maui Pink Cap Swimmers into some shallow water this morning. Areas we did not dare tackle last Sunday.
Coach Janet wanted to see how effective the shark repellant devices are. Hmmmm, they must only work on sharks.
Amazing how two people who were nearly killed in separate bicycle accidents are back swimming again. Amazing and wonderful.

Turtle Breath
Swimming alone is fun, but swimming with friends is even better.
This morning's ocean swim involved lots of play and exploration, and even a small amount of danger (have you ever smelled a turtle's breath from inches away?).

Grindstone
I managed to sneak in another short walk while the boss wasn't looking this morning. But now my nose is back to the grindstone. Here are a couple of snapshots from the walk.

Show Off
Unlike Green Sea Turtles and Spinner Dolphins, most fish are shy around me and my camera.
But not this guy this morning! He kept swimming around me, posing this way and that.
And, of course, all the turtles I saw were completely oblivious to my presence.

Kalama Trees
While my car was in the shop this morning, I had the opportunity to wander Kihei's Kalama Park and got to appreciate its interesting trees.

Small, Small Band
Happily, this morning's murky water got clearer the farther we swam. Nonetheless, our small, small band diminished as we went, until only three foolhardy souls remained.
Despite crazy, wild waves, a good time was had by all.

All Road End
I had fun hiking with a new group of people this morning.
We explored just a little south of my house down beyond where all roads end. I love getting out into the wilderness, where even my cell phone doesn't work.
Unlike my swimming buddies, this group knows how to take it easy - no fifteen mile trek for them.
I'm looking forward to the next hike.

Back to Work
I managed (just barely) to sneak out for a short walk this morning, and this is the one snapshot I took.
Somehow, my "to do" work pile grew while I was out of the office and is even more daunting than before the walk.
Okay, back to work...

One More - One Less
How could it be? Doug added yet another year to his vast array of experiences from which to form limitless quantities of puns [groan]. Lucky us.
And Rachelle is leaving us to rejoin her family way down South in Dixie. Aloha, y'all.

Little Grass Shack
You too can own a piece of paradise. This little grass shack cost a mere $14,000,000.00 (and you wondered why we bought our retirement home in Florida)

Sunshine for My Soul
Thank you, Janet and Patti for getting me out of the office this morning. I have been working way too too many hours recently (as can be seen by my total lack of blog posts).
Everywhere we swam we saw Yellow Tangs, Yellow Tangs, and yet more Yellow Tangs. Which is great, they are like sunshine for my soul.
